SCORPIO

digital collage by dianna

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac. This is why it's the Sign most associated with secrets and death. It is the dark Autumnal energy required to break things down and compost them into fertile new soil. Notice how whiteness has made us focus on the deviant sexual nature of this Sign over the value of death & rebirth in the cycle of ShadowWeRk. Yes, it can be secretive, possessive, and intense but that is BECAUSE its job is to guide us into those Shadows not because it's scary or deviant. As you study Scorpio make sure you don't allow the stream of gothic & dark keywords to distract you from its protective & powerfully healing nature. We must allow the Scorpio part of us (and others) to be able to express both sides of its nature to be whole. The undercover agent to gives into corruption in order to have power hasn't done their ShadowWeRK. An agent who stays the course, even when it's dangerous & challenging, in order to make the world safer & more real is a balanced Scorpio.

Scorpio’s Shadows are often described as; obsessive, intense, manipulative, secretive, covertly vengeful, venomous, vindictive, resistant, jealous, irrational, dominant, spiteful, unforgiving, cruel (especially when they feel sad or attacked), power-hungry, compulsive, extremely sensitive, pessimistic, masochistic, suspicious, charismatic, resentful, self-destructive, erotic, nosey, penetrating, aggressive, plotting, stalking, deceptive.

Seasonal Scorpio:

Scorpio brings us back to the Underworld as we see all the spent life dissolve away. It arrives to remind us that we need to compost the death all around us or we won't have that fertile soil when the Spring returns. We honor death as an important part of the cycle we all belong to. The veil gets thin & our Ancestors call to us to remember them. We look for the nutrients that might still be hidden as mushrooms pop up & gourds are ready to be harvested- gifts from the cycle. We collect & examine this last round of food items. We pickle, ferment & brew the medicines we need to get thru the dark times. Everything is still in a range of colors like eggplant, pumpkin & scarlet. When the rains come they are heavy & emotional; we are asked to embrace grief as Summer leaves completely & Autumn is fully here.
